This is a great beginners/hobbiest telescope. It came well packaged and carrying case is a nice touch. It image quality is fantastic, better than it has any right to be for the price.

This is my second telescope, and it has been a joy to use. I was surprised by how well the telescope was built, with a healthy amount of metal. The tripod offers plenty of stability and comes with nice feet if you need to use it on grassy terrain. The included accessories were welcomed, and I appreciated the extra barrow lens for additional reach. Focusing the telescope was extremely easy and smooth, and the added mini-sight made lining up with the moon easy. The phone accessories are a nice touch for anyone wanting to snap a quick photo. Overall, I think it’s a great telescope to get started with, and I have been enjoying my time looking at the stars. Recommended as a gift for anyone, kids or adults, who has a budding interest in astronomy. As a bonus, when it's not in use, it looks great sitting in our great room, peering out the window. Note, the telescope is super clear, the image of the moon I included was taken during a super cloudy night which is why it appears a bit soft.

I’ve been using the Hawkko 90/900 refractor for a bit now, and it’s a pretty solid telescope. It’s easy to use, easy to carry, easy to have a good time.

The optics are actually better than I expected at this price point. With the 90 mm aperture and 900 mm focal length, you get nice, bright views of the Moon, and that’s where this thing really shines. Lunar observing is fantastic—craters pop, shadows have depth, and it’s the kind of view that makes you want to keep going back out at night.

To my great pleasure you can even go on planetary adventures. You can definitely make out Jupiter’s cloud bands, which is a big milestone for a me. My skies have not cooperated with me to have a chance at Saturn, but based on my Jupiter experience I believe that the rings will be visible.

Setup is straightforward. This is very much a “take it out, be observing in 15 minutes” kind of instrument. That’s a big plus if you don’t want to fight your gear before even looking through it.

Overall, I’d say this: if you’re just getting into astronomy and want something simple that actually lets you see real detail, this is a decent pick. It’s especially great for the Moon and good enough to give you that “wow” moment with Jupiter.

Honestly I just wanted a telescope that worked without costing a ridiculous amount, and this one surprised me in a good way. It was pretty easy to set up, and once I got the hang of focusing, the moon looked crazy clear. Like you can actually see crater detail, not just a bright blob. The mount is simple to use and it points where you want it to, and the included eyepieces are fine for starting out. Using the lower power one first makes it way easier to find what you are aiming at, then you can switch to the higher power after.

It is not perfect because it is still a budget telescope, so it can shake a little if you bump it or if the ground is uneven, and the phone adapter takes some messing with to line up. But for the price it feels worth it, and it is genuinely fun to use. If you live somewhere with low light pollution like the Big Island, or parts of Arizona, Utah, or just anywhere more rural, it is even better because the sky is already doing the most.

This is a great telescope. The image quality is impressive. Images of the moon and distant objects come out crisp, bright, and clear. Setup of this telescope was straightforward and took less than 15 minutes; all the accessories, including the phone adapter and sturdy tripod, were included in the kit. The tripod adjusts easily and feels stable.

I was also able to capture great photos using my phone with the included phone mount. The kit is well thought out, complete with all the essential eyepieces and a convenient carry bag, which makes it truly portable.

Overall, It’s a powerful, portable, easy to use telescope, and the quality for the price is great. Highly recommended!

Delivery was a bit slow, but I am satisfied with this telescope.

Wasn't quite sure what to expect, but this telescope exceeded my expectations. The moon, stars, and planets have always captivated me, so when I tell you the first time I saw the craters of the moon through this thing (10mm eyepiece with Barlow lens) I nearly cried. Objects on the other side of the telescope notwithstanding, the telescope itself it very nice. It came very safely packaged and was easy to assemble with the clear instructions. The tripod has some nice features, like angel markings and long handles, but the extension legs weren't as smooth as even some of my entry-level camera tripods. I'm glad it came with a nice carrying case when the time comes I pack it up and take it somewhere. Overall, I'm impressed and happy with this purchase.

This product is marketed as a good telescope for beginners. Does that hold up, or is it a “hobby killer”? Here are my thoughts:

The first thing I noticed is that the telescope is compact and very portable. It comes with a great carrying case that holds the telescope, tripod and accessories bag (which holds the lenses, the finder-scope, and more). The case has a shoulder strap and sturdy handles and is easy to carry. You can pretty much fit everything you’d need for an evening of stargazing into that case.

It turns out the scope works great. I tested it on the moon and saturn and was able to get clear views of both. It comes with a 1omm and 25mm lens, plus a 3x barlow (which triples the magnification of whatever lens you use). I’m usually a fan of red-dot finders instead of finder-scopes, but I was pleasantly surprised with how well the included finder-scope worked. Also included is a cellphone mount that allowed me to use my phone to take pictures including the photo of the moon included in my video. All of those items worked well enough for being basic accessories.

The tripod is also quite sturdy, especially for being so light. I’m not used to that style of Alt/Az (tilt/pan) tripod, so it took me a bit to figure out how to lock the tilt. (Hint: read the instruction manual first. You’ll save a lot of time!) But once I had the hang of it, it worked great.

As with any “beginner” equipment there are several upgrades that could be made: adding a red-dot finder, better lenses, upgrading the cellphone mount, etc. But for what this telescope costs, I was absolutely satisfied with the performance. Yes, you can spend more and get better accessories, but if you’re getting something for a young person who may or may not continue with the hobby, this is a solid investment that won’t break the bank.
